Manteno Bustrip 2008

WCVAs presenting a check for $8000.00 to Kathy Z. at Manteno. WCVA had a very successful fundraiser which enabled them for the second year in a row to donate $8000.00 to the disabled veterans. Sadly, this year's bustrip only had a total of 8 veterans go on the bustrip. ALL who went had a great time with beer, sandwiches, pizza and friendship.

REST IN PEACE JOE ROBERTS

Our Dear friend Joe Roberts passed away 03 November 08.

As you know Joe was the former Commander of the VFW Post 450 Alsip, IL. Joe always attended veteran related events and will be missed. Joe was a proud Army Viet Nam veteran.

Godspeed Joe. Your pain is over......Rest in peace Joe.

VFW 450 Memorial Day Service

Welcome to the VFW Post 450 Memorial Day service. The service included a huge motorcycle escort by various motorcycle clubs, speeches from many important leaders of Veterans issues, Marine Corps League Color Guard, the Emerald Society, 122nd Artillery Division 105mm Howitzer, releasing of doves and a 300ft flyover of a UH Huey "rebuilt" Vietnam helicopter. Thank you all WCVA members who attended. Your support was appreciated. Thank you to all who made the service a memorable experience. Thank you "Rambo" and staff who provided delicious food and drink.
Remember our troops currently serving overseas and above all NEVER FORGET those who did not return.

Many guests spoke at the VFW 450 Memorial Day service. Also contributing to the service was the Emerald Society of the Chicago Police Department. Their bagpipes brought about many heartfelt smiles from onlookers everywhere.

Today at the VFW Post 450 Memorial Day Service many people listened to the patriotic words of IDVA L. Tammy Duckworth as she reminded everyone to remember the fallen. It was a beautiful day filled with emotion and honor.

WCVA veterans who are unable to walk the distance of the parade, proudly rode in the trolley and excited the cheering crowds. Among the WCVA veterans riding the trolley was our very own Vice President Barney O'Reilly who conquered amazing odds the past year. Welcome Back Brother!

82nd Airborne soldiers honor their brother in arms

82nd Airborne soldiers saluting their brother in arms (KIA) CPT David Schultz. These brave young men proudly served as pall bearers. The crowd of supporters was fantastic! There were also the Blue Island PD, the Patriot Guard, the Emerald Society and the Windy City Veterans to honor the hero.

Windy City Veterans' Ed Larsen, Mike Graffis, Bob Moses and President Martin Tully were among those present at the homecoming ceremony for (KIA) CPT David Schultz of Blue Island, IL. Mike is also a volunteer member of the Patriot Guard. Patriot Guard's mission is simply to protect those who have made the final sacrifice from protesters and activists.

Martin Earl Tully Jr. was born at 0256hrs on 20 JAN 08. He was 5lbs. 9oz. and 19 inches. This was an extremely proud day for the President of WCVA and his family. Greetings Junior!
